22-24 June 2021, Virtual Conference
If you are looking for details on how to participate in the conference, please visit our gateway hub for more details - https://hub.floodrisk2020.net/how-to-participate/
Following our announcement that the FLOODrisk 2020 conference will now be held entirely online, we have produced the following FAQs that we believe will cover the most common questions. If you have another question please email info@floodrisk2020.net and we will respond as soon as possible.
No, although the paper submission close date will be extended there is no change to the submission or review process. You will, however, be required to submit a video presentation to be used during the conference, rather than a live presentation.
We are incredibly grateful to those who have submitted their papers on time, your papers will begin the review process. The deadline of 11th January fell when a number of European countries had recently been placed into tighter COVID-19 restrictions, along with a busy lead up to Christmas for many. The change in people's working environment and the inclusion of home schooling for some has meant many have found it difficult to meet the deadline. To ease the pressure we have decided to extend the submission deadline by one month for those who need it.
Thank you for your continued support for the FLOODrisk 2020 conference. You will be contacted on an individual basis to discuss what the changes in registration fee mean for you and, in the majority of cases, how we will deal with reimbursing you for the difference. We have an added consideration that the conference fees must now apply Dutch VAT rate, rather than Hungarian VAT and so we are required to issue a credit note for any invoices that include Hungarian VAT before reissuing a revised invoice. We only intend to refund the difference in the 2 invoices, rather than issue a full refund and then request a full payment again.
Following our announcement to postpone the FLOODrisk 2020 conference, until 21st-25th June 2021. We have produced the following FAQs that we believe will cover the most common questions. If you have another question please email info@floodrisk2020.net and we will respond as soon as possible.
Download our flow chart here, to begin the process of understanding what you may be required to do.
No and if there will be no changes to your submission there is no action to take. However we will be asking authors to indicate their desire to continue, withdraw or amend their submission during May. To do so log into the submission pages here and follow the steps at the top of the page from May 1st 2020.
You have 3 considerations:
1. If you would like your paper to be published in September 2020, as it would have done before, then you must upload your paper before the end of April 2020 and then indicate this preference during the month of May by following the actions that will appear at the top of this page from 1st May. There will be a €250 charge for early publication which will be taken off your registration fee for the conference in June 2021.
2. If you would like your paper to be considered for special issue, you must submit your paper by the end of April, indicating which journal you'd like to be considered for.
3. If you are happy for publication to take place at a later date or you believe your paper could be improved by submitting at a later date then it would be helpful if you could indicate your desire to continue with you presentation, during May, but this is not mandatory and no response will be assumed to be acceptance you wish to carry on.
Absolutely. You have 2 options to consider:
1. If you would like your current submission to still be published, in September 2020, you must keep your current paper submission in place, indicate your desire for it to be published, during May, and then pay the €250 publication fee, that will be taken off your conference registration fee at a later date
2. It would be helpful if you could indicate your desire to carry on with your presentation, during May, however you can just wait until November to re-submit a new version of your paper.
Yes. We understand a postponement to our conference shouldn’t stop you publishing your paper but also hope that many papers will actually be improved, with the extension of time, to include further results, conclusions and data. You have 2 steps to follow:
1. Indicate your desire to continue with the same submission, but to remove your current paper submission, during May. To do so, log into the submission pages here and follow the steps at the top of the page.
2. Wait until 2nd November when the paper submission system will reopen and submit your new paper.
Yes. At the end of April 2020 we will begin the process of reviewing papers for special issue. This process can take a while but if you have indicated you would like your paper to be considered then it still remains part of that process.
We’re sorry to hear you’re unable to be with us in June 2021. Please indicate your desire to withdraw your submission by logging into the submission pages here and following the steps at the top of the page, during May 2020.
Yes. We’re sorry to see you go but understand the situation a postponement can bring about. To do so please log into the submission pages here and follow the steps at the top of the page by the end of May.
Yes. We will be re-opening the abstract submission process, for new submissions from 1st June 2020.
Your submission will have been considered to be valid and will still be part of the conference. Should you wish to notify us of any change to the status of your submission you can do so by emailing info@floodrisk2020.net.
All current registrations will remain valid but should you wish to cancel you can claim a full refund by emailing info@floodrisk2020.net.
We have no defined timeline for this, however, the initial selection process is underway and we hope to complete that in June 2020. For those successful, from that point, it will be up to the journals selection timeline and could take 6 months.
